“So, you’re coming tonight, right?”

I told my stylist to stop doing my hair for a while. Kevin’s begging voice made me smirk. This is the perfect time to start my plan.

“I’m sorry, baby. But I can’t. My photo shoot is not done yet, and I think it’ll last till night,” I couldn’t help but smile at myself through the mirror.

“But, Nana.. it’s my birthday..” Kevin sounded even more miserable. Now my stylist is staring at me because I couldn’t help to hold in my laughter.

“I know. That’s why I’m so sorry, Kev. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow, okay? I’ll spend the whole day with you.”

Kevin didn’t answer. My heart was awe-ing. I took a deep breath.

“What? Yes, onnie… Psst~ Kev, you still there?” I played another act.

“Yes?”

“I gotta get ready for the next shoot. Bye bye and love you!”

I shut the phone and stared at it. Then I stared at myself in the mirror and smile.

“You are so evil, Nana. In a good way,” said my stylist while continuing to do my hair.

“Don’t you think we should buy balloons?”

I turned around and found Siwan holding a pack of balloons.

“If you think it would be fun then.. well, yeah add it to the cart,” I continued walking through the shelves. “What else do we need..”

“Nana, have you got the paper plates and small plastic forks?” asked Hyungshik.

“I got ‘em..” said Minwoo.

I looked around the store. It’s so fun watching these 8 boys traveling the whole area, finding stuff for Kevin’s surprise birthday party. They are so loyal to their friends.

“You guys, are preparing a birthday song for him, right?” I walked up with a few stuffs and threw it gently into the cart. It was almost full.

“Yep! It’s sort of like what we done at Hyungshik hyung’s party. But this one’s different. Would you like to join the medley, Noona?” asked Dongjun, the youngest.

I smiled and moved my hand. “Nah, I got a different role,” I looked at my wristwatch. “Hey, you guys continue shopping, okay. I need to go somewhere else.”

“Where?” asked the curious Kwanghee.

“To pick up my special present. Secret,” I put my point finger in front of my mouth. Then I smiled and went out of the shop.
~~~~~~
That night we already gathered in a small café that we rented. I told everyone to turn off the lights, then I sneaked into the crowd, hiding.
“Psst~! He is coming!”
“He’s gonna get the door. One.. two.. three!”
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KEVIN !!!”
The lights went on again. Everyone was clapping, some blew the trumpets, some threw glittery papers, some opened the cracking thingy, I don’t know the name. I clapped too, but I stayed still, I don’t want him to find me.
His eight buddies were already around him, hugging and congratulating him. But I can see his eyes. His eyes were traveling around the area. When he almost caught me, I hid behind the person beside me. Then when Kevin thought that I wasn’t here, he sighed but still managed to put on a smile.
“Cut the cake, Hyung!” said Hyungshik in excitement. He always loved cakes. Well, all foods actually.
The other boys were all excited too, Kevin was like “Yeah, yeah,” then after he blew the candles, he cut the cake.
“Who are you going to give the first cake to, Hyung?” asked Hyungshik again. The others just laughed.
Kevin looked around again. “Well, since she is not here.. then this cake goes to..”
“You’re not giving that cake to anyone.”
Kevin was shocked. I already had my arms around him from behind. Hehe, lucky nobody realized me sneaking.
“Nana? You’re.. here?” Kevin wanted to look at me but it’s kinda hard you know, in that position. I was like hugging him from the back.
“And the first cake goes too…” I ignored his question.
Kevin pinched a few of cream from the cake with his finger, and quickly touched his finger to my nose. Great, my nose is white.
“The first cake goes to you,” said Kevin.
I smiled and was about to take revenge with the cream but he got hold of my wrist, twisted it a bit and suddenly he was standing right in front of me. This close.
“Thanks for the surprise,” he said. His face moved closer to mine. I looked at the other friends all watching and keeping silent, a few where whispering and giggling.
“Ehem,” I put a spoon of cake between my lips and his, making what he wanted to do, failed. “The cake is, delicious, right? I made it myself.”
Kevin’s face didn’t look pleasured as he felt cream on his lips. But then he smiled. He wiped his lips and tasted the cake.
“Hmm, how come it’s a bit salty?” he said.
I raised an eyebrow. He laughed.
“It’s tasty, Nana. Thanks for baking it, and for coming of course,” he messed up my hair. I smiled back.
~~~~~~

Everyone had a great time. It was getting late. The guests were going home one by one. Then it was only me left, with Kevin, and the other eight boys.

“Open the presents, Hyung!” said Dongjun.

Kevin obeyed, and started unwrapping the gifts. He was happy, amazed, and very grateful of the gifts. Just in a minute and the room was full of new stuffs, from sneakers, clothes, and others.

“Wait a minute. I haven’t seen one more present..” said Taehun, finally speaking up.

“What do you mean? I unwrapped everything,” said Kevin while taking another glance instead he missed a gift.

Then all the boys looked at me. Kevin looked at me. “What?” I asked.

“You’re not.. giving me anything?” asked Kevin. He put on his puppy face again. Awe.

I reached for my handbag, and took out two pieces of paper.

“What’s that?” asked Heechul.

I gave them to Kevin. Kevin stared at it.

“Tickets? To.. Australia?” he asked. All the other boys then came closer to see the tickets.

“We’ll be leaving tomorrow,” I said.

Kevin stared at me in amazement, and he smiled really wide.

“Let’s go back, to the place where we first met each other.”
